Why Plaster?
Plaster mouldings are made in molds using gypsum plaster and glass fiber reinforcement. Gypsum is a common mineral found in sedimentary rock formations. The finished product is non-toxic and non-combustible, possessing the characteristics of sustainable building materials. Plaster mouldings are eco-friendly and do not contain polyurethane typically found in foam based mouldings. Plaster mouldings are relatively lightweight with unusual strength and are much less prone to shrinkage than wood. A highly detailed moulding can be cast in plaster as a single piece simplifying installation, while the same moulding in wood must be fabricated and installed in multiple pieces.
Other Features:
- Custom sizes and shapes possible – formable to curved surfaces.
- Fabricated in a local, family-owned shop.
- DIY installation or by tradesman with basic carpentry skills and tools.
- Plaster can easily accept faux finishes and other specialty finishes.
